I began to study Qi Gong many. Yeats agone just was sidetracked by the opportunity to written report Taiji with a famous main. Well, I studied with him for a yr and had graduated to Push-Hands, when I suffered an injury that led me to drop the whole enterprise.

I recently decided to try to return to T'ai Qi but was unable to discover the right teacher for me. So I rediscovered Master Lam Kam Chuen's book in my attic,.

At that place are many forms of Qi Gung, but the method in this book is Zhan Zhuang, "standing like a tree." While outlooks mindless.y simple, it is complex.

At that place is a Sufi maxim, that the person who has himself as a master has a for for a master.

So while finding a Taiji teacher was difficult, finding one for Qi Gung was more then.

Notwithstanding, Master Lam's instructions and illustrations led me to effort to teach myself.

To my surprise, I plant he correctly anticipated the problems I would encounter, and I was especially encouraged by what growth and improvement I experienced subsequently even a short period.

The real foundation in QiGong is the Standing Position. Zhan Zhuang is the most easy variation of them and I recommend Lam Kam Chuen volume. It is easy to sympathise and he explains how to practice and what to expect.

Information technology is a actually brusque, but straightforward, volume. The instructions are clear and the diagrams helpful, and information technology doesn't waste product time on lengthy theory and history. While the book provided enough details, i practice supplement the information with Marking Cohen's and Tom Bisio's books as well, for they provided some helpful instruction on micro-adjustments.

This book would exist a preliminary for the next book, The Style of Ability, which focused more on the martial attribute. In my stance though, both books should exist combined into a single, one-stop reference edition, so students tin follow a systematic instruction from start to advanced levels.

This was a very plain spoken and clear survey of the Zhan Zhuang method of Chi Kung exercise. The exercises were clearly described and the illustrations were constructive at converting the positions. While the mechanism was not detailed, the effects of the exercises were. It is a very effective introduction to these exercises. My only complaint is that it assumes you will have a teacher, and does not give a good guideline of how to progress in the arrangement other than gradually.
